The Estrema Fulminea: An All-Electric Hypercar
The Estrema Fulminea – a limited-run all-electric; 4-wheel driven hypercar with an electric motor set-up of over 2000 bhp. Where did we hear that previously? The Fulminea is made of a fresh Italian brand, Automobili Estrema, which appears to be scheduled for the second half of 2023 to provide first deliveries to selected customers. That is pretty soon, isn’t it?
The Fulminea would be the first product of Automobili Estrema, a new company founded in Modena, Italy, by Gianfranco Pizzuto, a former shareholder and Fisker distributor in Europe.
What distinguishes the Fulminea from other multimillion-pound EVs such as the Lotus Evija, Rimac C Two, and Pininfarina Battista? Estrema claims that the Fulminea will use an amalgamation of a solid-state lithium battery pack procured by Avesta Battery Energy Engineering and Lamborghini Sian-like (but better) ultracapacitors for a total of 100kWh and a WLTP range of 323 miles. It is worth noting that no other manufacturer has yet succeeded in bringing a solid-state BEV to market.
The Fulminea’s four engines power these ultra-capabilities, electrical energy storage devices with a large electric charge. Those four engines produce an incredible 2,040 hp of overall output. It is supposed to reach 200 mph in less than ten seconds for rocket-like acceleration. Based on industry test cycles, the projected range is 325 miles, with a battery capacity of 100 kWh.
According to the manufacturer, the outcome is a 100-kWh battery pack with an “unparalleled” energy density of 450 Wh/kg. For comparison, an energy density of roughly 260 Wh/kg is available in the Tesla Model 3’s pack with the ‘2170’ cells. Estrema anticipates that the batteries in Fulminea will weigh less than 300 kg, and the entire vehicle will weigh only 1.507 kg (3,307 lbs.).
As is obvious from sculpture-based, active aerodynamic bodywork — made from carbon fiber — integrated with the rear wing, the shark fin, and the various airflow and heat management intakes, the Fulminea incorporates many technological and material advancements common to competing cars. Proportions and volumes have also received special attention, inspired partly by the fastest and most aerodynamic animals, such as the sailfish, peregrine falcon, and cheetah.
For the construction and design of Fulminea, lightweight composite materials were used. Designs were optimized using CFD tests containing active aerodynamic elements, such as the retractable rear wing and the front air intakes.
The Fulminea is finished by Automobili Estrema in Azzurro Savoia. Inspired by the blue azurites, the car’s dark texture and alloy and carbon-fiber rims — from Oz Racing — fill the wheel wells and are equipped with tires developed for Estrema by Pirelli complement the car’s dark texture.
Release of The Fulminea
On May 13th, 2023, in the Turin Automotive Museum, the new Estrema Fulminea will officially be unveiled. Automobili Estrema says that in the second half of 2023, customers will receive first customer examples of Fulminea.
The Fulminea will compete in the Salon Privé Concours d’Élégance, which will feature new concepts and prototype classes. All week round, on Cricket square at the South Lawn of Blenheim Palast, the top ten innovative designs will be presented in a covered showcase.
In addition, guests who dine on their private terraces and current collectors and enthusiasts overlook the exclusive enclave. The designers and manufacturers will have the opportunity to engage with them. A lawn full of luxury supercar manufacturers will also present their most recent releases beyond the Concours.
Nonetheless, an outrageous electric supercar that may or may not be produced by a company that both you and I have not ever heard of before today is exactly what the EV market needs. That implies the electric future is, for the most part, here.
Let us know in the comments below what you think about the Fulminea and how this car can revolutionize the EV industry!
